Major Drug Scandal Uncovered in Spain

As a result of the investigation, which led to one of the largest narcotic seizures in Spain, the Spanish authorities arrested Oscar Sanchez Hilly, former head of the department combating theft and money laundering in the Spanish national police. In the activist's home, 20 million euros were found hidden in the walls, as reported by the newspaper 'The Guardian'.

The police arrested Hilly last week as part of a broad investigation into the largest cocaine trafficking organization in the country's history. Spanish authorities seized 13 tons of cocaine, hidden in bunches of bananas, coming from Ecuador.

These suspects face charges of drug trafficking, money laundering, and involvement in a criminal organization. According to the investigation, Hilly, occupying a high position in the fight against crime, used his position to pass information to traffickers about customs checks, which allegedly facilitated the supply of narcotics to Spain over a five-year period.

This unprecedented scandal, described by Spanish media as resembling major drug trafficking cases, recalls the history of the notorious drug lord Pablo Escobar and has sparked widespread discussion in the country. It also draws attention to the increasing activity of drug traffickers in Spain, which is one of the main entry points for drugs into Europe.

In the arrest, there are also 15 individuals, among whom is his partner, working for the police in Madrid. The police raided Hilly's home in the town of Alcalá-de-Henares, where money was found, distributed along the walls and ceiling of the house, as well as an additional million euros, hidden in his office, according to police information.
